Emotion vs. Reason
If you are a buyer, your realtor may consistently refer to the object of your desire as a “home.” If you are a seller, she most likely refers to your property as a “house.” There is a reason for this. Buying real estate is often an emotional process. You are looking for a home, with all of the word’s connotations of family, safety, and joy. But if you are selling your residence, you need to remove emotion from the equation. You must think of your residence as a marketable commodity. A house. Property. Real estate. Your goal is to get others to see it as their potential home, not yours. If you do not consciously make this decision, you can inadvertently create a situation where it takes longer to sell your property.
